Below are listed some of our favorite things to do while at the lake
Roughly 20 minutes away is a sandy beach at the state park, with watercraft rentals, snacks, and just about everything you need for a day of fun in the sun
A 24 hour gaming playground roughly a 50 minute drive from the house
The only restaurant and marina on Leesville Lake, a true local favorite! Roughly 25 minutes from the house.
About 40 minutes away from the house is a local park with one of the highest rated disc golf courses in Virginia!
A slightly closer marina, with a campground attached. They offer food and entertainment, as well as a boat launch.
A moderate difficulty down and back hike to the Smith Mountain Lake Dam - a few miles from the house

We have found the best restaurants in the area, so you don't have to risk it
Located in the Wal-Mart shopping center in AltaVista, this is a convenient go-to with excellent food and drinks that are piping fresh and reasonable prices. A great meal on the way in, or out, when coming in via Route 29.
Likely one of our favorite restaurants out of anywhere, ever - the most amazing southern cooking available. Be warned, you will wait for your food - recommended you call ahead and order pickup to enjoy back at home.
A true local favorite with good down home Italian food, at extremely reasonable prices. A full bar is available.
The closest restaurant to the house, and some top notch pizza to boot! Right near the White House store.
The hangout spot for Smith Mountain Lake locals, with a full service bar and activities almost every night. Located in the Bridgeport shopping plaza.
If you are looking for local, freshly made Chinese food this is going to be your spot. A well underrated quick take out spot to enjoy your evenings on the deck.

Some of the more convenient shopping areas to the Little House
Located next to the White House Store, this is the easiest to get to "catch all" from the Little House. This store has a solid grocery selection for any quick needs.
Roughly 10-15 minutes from the house - This will be your go to for quick eats, snacks, gas, supplies, and other grab and go type items you will need on your trip
A roughly 30 minute drive to the local Walmart, located in a shopping center with restaurants and other store
The closest hardware store to the house, which has a large variety of products required for fixing
About 40 minutes from the lake house, this location has it all. Shopping, dining, mini-golf, and everything inbetween.
Located 30 minutes from the Little House, this is a higher end Food Lion with reasonably priced ready to eat items, as well as your regular grocery needs
